Best Top 25 Remote Nurse Jobs
One Saturday in the summer of 2018, I found myself wandering the Travis Air Force Base library. In between the long aisles, I stumbled upon a book about healthcare and technology. Though the title escapes me, the content sparked an unforgettable surge of excitement. I had been dreaming of a future where the internet and healthcare intertwined. I wanted virtual medical appointments, predictive diagnoses, and home-based health devices. This book showed me that there were others out there who shared the same dream. Little did I know, that this future was closer than I thought... and it was about to be accelerated by the infamous global pandemic.
Healthcare is changing. Hospitals are becoming more profit-driven, and healthcare workers are looking outside of hospital walls to seek better working conditions. No longer martyrs. Healthcare workers are no longer freely accepting sacrificing their mental, physical, and social health for the benefits of everyone but themselves. Nurses have become empowered to build lives they love. Oftentimes, that ideal life incorporates the freedom and flexibility of remote work. A result of this fast-growing trend is that the remote field has become highly competitive. But I'm here to be your guide and remind you that the remote life is within reach for you, too.
What's my story?
Earlier this year, I was just like you. One night, I got fed up with my hospital unit and the system. I thought, "Enough is enough." I set out on a journey to seek better working conditions. Although I was offered in-person nurse positions, I found myself curious about working remotely again. I only had 6 years of experience working in healthcare and 2 years as a Registered Nurse. While researching the remote nursing field, I came across so many stories of nurses with 15+ years of experience unable to get interviews for remote positions... The stories were valid, but discouraging. However, I knew that I had two skills that could get me out of any hole: analyzing and writing. So, I decided to gather the data and write my way out.
I researched the remote field, tailored my resume, and optimized my LinkedIn profile. Then, in February and March, I found myself turning down job offers from the Operation Room, Public Health, Pre-Op, and PACU. I knew that I eventually wanted to work remotely using my favorite skills. So, I took a change. I knew where I wanted to be. I just needed to start moving strategically. In February, I started applying to remote nurse positions. Within 6 weeks, I accepted my first Remote Nurse position.
I share my story not to bloat, but rather to motivate you. I want to remind you that:
Nothing is impossible
And I need you to believe this.
Tailor your resume for the direction that you want to go. What do I mean? Decide your path first. Learn which experiences you need to gain before you apply for the job. Then, gain that experience. Write an impressive resume and optimize your LinkedIn profile. Manifest your dream career by taking action.
So, which direction will you decide?
